Social Media Terms of Engagement
Welcome to the City of Red Deer's social media channels and online engagement platforms. We are here to foster a vibrant and connected community, and one way we do this is by sharing information and engaging with on social media. We are committed to responding to your questions and keeping you informed about our city’s programs and services. Our channels are monitored during our regular business hours (8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.).
Social media is, at its core, social, which means it is a great place for conversation. We value the opportunity to connect with you, and we also want to ensure our online spaces remain fair, open, and safe for everyone, we ask that all interactions be respectful and considerate. Here’s how you can help:
- Be Kind and Respectful: Avoid abusive behavior, including hateful, profane, discriminatory, or offensive comments. This includes any content promoting violence or illegal activities, or personal attacks on anyone, including City staff, elected officials, or other members of the community.
- Share Accurate Information: We all want to keep our community well-informed. Please avoid sharing misinformation, especially about critical topics like public health and safety, or democratic processes.
- Stay On Topic: Spam, including off-topic comments or repetitive messages promoting commercial products or services, can distract from meaningful conversation. Let's keep our discussions relevant and focused.
The City of Red Deer reserves the right to determine and remove inappropriate content. Users who consistently share harmful or deceptive content may be restricted or removed from our platforms. Whenever possible, we will notify users if their comment is removed and invite them to reframe and repost appropriately.
