Like many youngsters, Andrew found woodworking enjoyable and was taught early from his father who is a skilled cabinetmaker. Woodturning became a magnet for him from his first experience when he happened upon an old lathe at the age of 11 and started to realize the range of things that could be made. Spending what seemed to be countless hours making toothpicks to some was just a learning curve for him and a path he is glad to have taken. Andrew was inspired by Michael Hosaluk and Jason Russell who helped in his decision to make woodturning a life long path.
Over the years of learning his craft, Andrew has made a name for his work and has been recognized for high quality of craftsmanship and willingness to share his knowledge with others. Andrew has been hired to teach in over 45 schools, colleges, and universities around the country in two week residencies and offers various classes at his studio.
Andrew resides near Red Deer, Alberta with his wife and daughter.
