She currently runs a successful business Voyager Art and Tile which she co – owns with partner Brian McArthur. They create Public Art and a line of decorative tiles for the gift market. In 2009 she won a Lieutenant Governor General Emerging Artist Award.
In her studio, Dawn works on a body of sculptural art dealing with the recent capture of a swarm of bees and an interest in the historical works of the Italian Della Robbia Family. Bee life and the bounty of honey are realized with the research of being an amerature apiarist. Inspired by the environment around her, the rolling prairies, mountains, distant ocean, she uses metaphors and a symbolic vocabulary in clay to produce sculpture that expresses poetic narratives that are conveyed from this natural muse.
Dawn vise-chair for the board of the Alberta Crafts Council of Edmonton, Alberta and participates and volunteers for local arts, sports and festival events. When she is not working for her business or on her own sculptural work, she is practicing the art of swimming, running, hiking, biking, canoeing, cross country skiing and working the gardens around her home.
