How to sign up (subscribe) to an RSS feed in your browser

There are different ways to subscribe to an RSS feed. It all depends on your browsing preference and the software you have installed on your computer or mobile device. Below are common instructions on how to subscribe to RSS feeds using popular web browsers.

Internet Explorer

  1. Click on the RSS feed that you wish to sign up for (News, RCMP News Releases, Road Closures or Land Use Bylaw Amendments).
  2. Click the “Subscribe to this Feed” link at the top of the page.
  3. Type a name for the feed and select the folder to create the feed in.
  4. Click Subscribe.
  5. You can then view your feed on the Feeds tab in the Favorites Center. To view your feeds, click the Favorites button, and then click Feeds. 

Mozilla Firefox

  1. Click on the RSS feed below that you wish to sign up for (News, RCMP News Releases, Road Closures or Land Use Bylaw Amendments).
  2. Click the “Subscribe to this Feed” link at the top of your page.
  3. In the Subscribe to this Feed Using menu, choose one of the feed options.
  4. Click Subscribe Now.

Google Chrome

Google Chrome does not have an in browser feed reader. If you do not have any other browsers installed, you must use an email application such as Microsoft Outlook or download an RSS feed reader to receive your RSS feeds.

Apple Safari

  1. In the browser, either enter the url of the feed into the web address bar and press Enter, or if you find an RSS link on a page, click the link and locate the line "subscribe to this RSS feed" at the top of the page and click the link.
  2. Click the RSS icon in the Address Bar and the browser window will change to display as a series of single-line RSS feeds.
  3. Click the + button at the top of the page as if you were going to create a bookmark for this page.

How to sign up (subscribe) to an RSS feed in popular email software

Note: There is no built-in RSS Feed functionality with versions of Outlook prior to Outlook 2007. To access the RSS feed within Outlook 2000 and Outlook 2003, you must install an RSS feed reader.

Microsoft Outlook 2007 & 2010

  1. Open Outlook.
  2. Locate the RSS Feeds folder in your Navigation Pane.
  3. Right-mouse click on the RSS Feeds folder, and select Add a New RSS Feed from the menu.
  4. Enter the feed url and click Add.

Apple Mail

  1. Open Safari.
  2. Either enter the url of the feed into the web address bar and press Enter, or if you find an RSS link on a page, click the link and locate the line "subscribe to this RSS feed" at the top of the page and click the link.
  3. Click the RSS icon in the Address Bar and the browser window will change to display as a series of single-line RSS feeds.
  4. Click the + button at the top of the page as if you were going to create a bookmark for this page.
  5. In the sheet that drops down, click the checkbox next to Mail; then click the Add button.
  6. In the Mailboxes sidebar, Mail automatically creates a new folder to hold all your RSS feeds and puts Apple Hot News to the new folder.

How to Subscribe to RSS Feeds from Mobile devices

  1. Download an RSS feed reader of your choice and follow the instructions to sign up and use the reader.
  2. Visit our RSS Feeds, click on a feed and copy and paste the URL from the our RSS feed into your feed reader.
