Celebrate Canada Day at Bower Ponds

The community is encouraged to take part in Canada Day celebrations at Bower Ponds on July 1.

The Red Deer Cultural Heritage Society is hosting the annual event starting at 11 a.m., with fireworks capping off the evening at 11 p.m.

International foods, entertainment on the stage, and special children's programming featuring singing, dancing, storytelling, arts & crafts and puppets are all part of the fun.

Bus Information and Park & Ride

There will be no parking at Bower Ponds, Great Chief Park or surrounding area so citizens are asked to take advantage of the convenient Park & Ride at Sorensen Station downtown (4830 48 Street, Red Deer). Residents are reminded that Alexander Way (47 Street) in Capstone at Riverlands is closed and there is no parking available on 47 Street or 45 Street.    

Parking is free at the Sorensen Station parkade, nearby City lots and on street. Parkade opens at 10 a.m. and closes shortly after midnight.

Buses will leave Sorensen Station to Bower Ponds starting at 10:45 a.m. Buses will go to and from Bower Ponds every 15 minutes. There is no service during the fireworks, but it will resume immediately after they wrap up. Bus service is free.
