Invitation to apply for new FCSS funding

January 7, 2016 9:54 AM
(Red Deer, Alberta)

Starting today, school boards, municipalities and non-profits in the Red Deer and District FCSS region – including the partner municipalities of City of Red Deer, Red Deer County, Town of Bowden, Town of Penhold, Village of Delburne and Village of Elnora – can apply for new funding for prevention programs as announced in the provincial budget this past fall.

The Red Deer & District Family and Community Support Services (FCSS) Board is issuing a Request for Proposals (RFP) today, inviting eligible applicants to submit proposals for new prevention programs that are either: planned and ready to go; an expansion of an existing project; or a one-time project or innovation to better serve clients.

Approximately $1.4 million in funding is available locally, following a $25 million announcement by the Province in October.

The FCSS mandate is to provide preventive social programming that enhances the social well-being of individuals and families through promotion or intervention strategies provided at the earliest opportunity. In-school mentoring, preschool wellness and seniors outreach programs are among some of the many programs currently funded by FCSS.

Applicants can choose to attend one of the following procurement orientations sessions for more information on the requirements and process:

  • January 18, 2016 at 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Crimson Star Room, 2nd Floor, City Hall
  • January 21, 2016 at 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at Crimson Star Room, 2nd Floor, City Hall
