January 18, 2016 3:57 PM
(Red Deer, Alberta)

At its regular meeting today, City Council received as information a report, the Riverside Light Industrial Area Land Use Review (pdf) .

The City reviewed zoning to determine if the present light industrial zoning, the I1 Industrial (Business Service) District, was appropriate.

As recommended in the report, administration will now review and consider some C4 Commercial (Major Arterial) uses along 48 Avenue and Riverside Drive, as well as work with land owners to bring forward minor changes to various existing land use definitions for Council consideration.

A Land Use Bylaw amendment regarding C4 Commercial (Major Arterial) uses in Riverside Light Industrial will be prepared for Council's consideration later in 2016.

The report was prepared in consultation with area landowners and tenants. Properties to be considered for commercial uses will be contacted for further input.
