Red Deer RCMP investigate armed robbery at A&W

Red Deer, Alberta – Red Deer RCMP are looking for the man who robbed an A&W Restaurant at gunpoint on Sunday evening.

Shortly after 11 pm on January 24, a man entered the A&W Restaurant located at 2004 50 Avenue carrying a handgun. He ordered the employees to the ground and demanded cash. Before leaving the restaurant, the suspect demanded employees’ cell phones and smashed them. He then took one employee’s vehicle keys, which were for a rental car, and fled in that car.

RCMP recovered the stolen rental car, a black Mitsubishi Lancer, on January 26 in the Deer Park neighbourhood and are examining it for evidence.

The suspect is described as:

  • Caucasian
  • 25 – 30 years old 
  • 5'9” – 5'10” tall
  • Medium build, approximately 170 lbs 
  • Dark hair 
  • Wearing a ball cap, a blue and white bandana, a black jacket, dark blue jeans, and white and blue running shoes
  • Carrying a blue backpack
  • Carrying a black handgun
