Red Deer RCMP investigate theft of unique machinery

January 29, 2016 4:05 PM

Red Deer, Alberta – Red Deer RCMP are looking for public assistance to locate a one of a kind piece of machinery that was stolen from the yard of a local waste disposal company last week.

Surveillance footage shows that the theft occurred on Tuesday, January 21 at approximately 10:30 pm. The suspect broke into a locked compound at Wasteco Disposal, located at 235 Spruce Street, and stole a custom made waste disposal container that sits on the back of a waste truck. The container is one of a kind and will therefore be easily recognizable; it is valued at approximately $30,000. The Wasteco truck pictured here was not stolen, so the suspect would have required a large truck in order to transport the container.

Surveillance footage also showed a male suspect in the compound at the time of the theft.

Please see attached photos of the waste container and of the suspect.

The investigation is ongoing, and RCMP ask anyone who sees this unique waste disposal container or who has information about this theft to contact the Red Deer RCMP at 403.343.5575. If you wish to remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 1.800.222.8477 or report it online.
