Red Deer RCMP recent arrests include identity theft and firearms offences

Red Deer, Alberta – Many recent arrests by Red Deer RCMP were thanks to vigilant citizens reporting suspicious activity, while others were the result of police locating stolen vehicles or suspects wanted on warrants while doing targeted policing in identified crime hot spots, as part of Red Deer’s Pinpoint crime reduction strategy. Pinpoint uses an intelligence-driven policing model to identify problem areas, repeat offenders and emerging issues, and Red Deer RCMP target their enforcement accordingly. 

February 15 

Shortly before 2 am on February 15, RCMP attended a hotel in response to a report of suspicious activity in two of the rooms. RCMP arrested a man and a woman and seized a stolen truck, stolen and forged documents including credit cards, and a sawed off shotgun. The truck had been reported stolen out of Red Deer on February 3 after it was left unlocked and running.

36 year old Kenneth William Fawcett faces the following charges:

  • Criminal Code 86(1) – Careless use of firearm
  • Criminal Code 92(1) – Possess prohibited weapon while knowing possession prohibited
  • Criminal Code 94(1) – Occupy motor vehicle with prohibited firearm
  • Criminal Code 95(2) – Possess prohibited firearm with ammunition
  • Criminal Code 355(a) – Possession of stolen property over $5,000 X 3
  • Criminal Code 368(1)(d) – Possess forged document X 2
  • Criminal Code 129(a) – Resist/ obstruct peace officer

Fawcett is scheduled to appear in court on February 16 at 9:30 am.

32 year old Tia Marie Cobbe faces the following charges:

  • Criminal Code 403(1)(a) – Identity fraud
  • Criminal Code 364(1) – Fraudulently obtain food and lodging
  • Criminal Code 145(3) – Fail to comply with conditions

Cobbe is scheduled to appear in court on February 20 at 9:30 am.

February 13 

At 11:30 pm on February 13, RCMP responded to a report of a suspicious truck driving on 67 Street. RCMP located the truck stuck in a snowbank on Riverside Drive and determined that the female driver was wanted on several outstanding warrants and was in possession of prescription drugs not in her name, in violation of court-imposed conditions and a probation order. Further investigation showed the truck had been stolen out of Red Deer that night but had not yet been reported to police.

22 year old Veronica Dawn Reed faces the following charges in addition to the warrants:

  • Criminal Code 355(a) – Possession of stolen property over $5,000 X 2
  • Criminal Code 733.1(1) – Fail to comply with probation X 2
  • Criminal Code 145(3) – Fail to comply with conditions

Reed is scheduled to appear in court in Red Deer on February 20 at 8:30 am.

February 11 

Shortly before 8 pm on February 11, RCMP responded to a report of suspicious activity in downtown Red Deer and located a female suspect who was wanted on outstanding warrants for breach of probation and failing to comply with conditions. 37 year old Rhianna Panteluk was arrested without incident and appeared in court in Red Deer on February 14 to speak to those charges.

February 11

At 8:30 am, RCMP responded to a report of a suspicious person in an apartment stairwell in the South Hill area. When RCMP located the suspect, he gave police several false names and then attempted to flee police on foot before being arrested. Police seized a firearm during the arrest.

26 year old Luke Andrew Jardine faces the following charges:

  • Criminal Code 88(1) – Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose
  • Criminal Code 90(1) – Carry concealed weapon
  • Criminal Code 91(2) – Unauthorized possession of firearm
  • Criminal Code 92(1) – Possession of firearm while knowing possession is prohibited
  • Criminal Code 117.01(3)(a) – Weapons possession contrary to order
  • Criminal Code 129(a) – Resist/ obstruct peace officer X 2

Jardine was remanded to appear in court in Red Deer on February 12; he is scheduled to appear again on February 20 at 9:30 am.

February 10 

At 10 pm on February 10, RCMP on patrol in downtown Red Deer located a suspicious vehicle and determined that one of the suspects had outstanding warrants for assault with a weapon and failing to appear in court. RCMP arrested her without incident, seizing a knife she was prohibited by court order from possessing, and fentanyl.

22 year old Skya Brooke Jordan faces the following charges in addition to the outstanding warrants:

  • CDSA 4(1) – Possession of Schedule I substance (fentanyl)
  • Criminal Code 145(5.1) – Fail to comply with conditions

Jordan was scheduled to appear in court in Red Deer on February 16 at 8:30 am.

February 10 

At 10 am on February 10, RCMP on patrol in north Red Deer located a suspicious parked vehicle and subsequently determined the driver was in possession of ammunition and fireworks in contravention of court-imposed conditions, and methamphetamine.

36 year old William Thomas Moore faces the following charges:

  • Criminal Code 117.01(1) – Possession of weapons contrary to order X 3
  • CDSA 4(1) – Possession of Schedule I substance

Moore is scheduled to appear in court in Red Deer on March 1 at 9:30 am.

February 9

The afternoon of February 9, RCMP attended a residence in downtown Red Deer looking for a suspect who was wanted on numerous outstanding warrants. 24 year old David Lee Gallinger was taken into custody without incident; he was wanted on warrants for 10 charges regarding three separate incidents, including assault, criminal harassment, failing to comply with probation, possession of stolen property and failing to appear in court (X 2). Gallinger is scheduled to appear in court in Red Deer on February 23 at 8:30 am.

February 8

At 1 pm on February 8, RCMP responded to a report of a break and enter in progress at a building in downtown Red Deer. Police attended immediately and arrested a male suspect without incident.

28 year old Travis Kowalchuk faces the following charges:

  • Criminal Code 348(1)(a) – Break and enter
  • Criminal Code 430(4) – Mischief under $5,000
  • Criminal Code 733.1(1) – Breach of probation
  • Criminal Code 145(3) – Fail to comply with conditions

Kowalchuk was remanded to appear in court in Red Deer at 9:30 am on February 12; he is scheduled to appear again on February 28 at 9:30 am.
