Red Deer RCMP charge youth after break and enter

January 25, 2017 10:42 AM

Red Deer, Alberta – A 17 year old Red Deer boy is in court tomorrow after RCMP arrested him for break and enter to a home in Eastview, thanks to the victim’s security system and her vigilance.

RCMP were called to the scene shortly after 4 pm on January 22, only 20 minutes after the break-in occurred, when the victim returned home to discover that someone had smashed a window at the back of the house and stolen a number of items. She immediately reviewed her security cameras and then identified the suspect as he continued to move through the neighbourhood. RCMP attended and arrested the suspect without incident, and the stolen items were returned to their owner.

The 17 year old male youth, who cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, faces a charge of Criminal Code 348(1)(b) – Breaking and entering to commit offence. At the time of his arrest, the youth was also wanted on a warrant for failing to comply with a sentence. He will appear in court in Red Deer on January 26 at 9:30 am.
