Red Deer RCMP seek public assistance after attempted child luring - Update

Red Deer, Alta. – Through further investigation, it has been determined there was no criminal or malicious intent in this incident.  

Police commend the children for responding appropriately to strangers and reporting this incident to school authorities.

RCMP are no longer investigating.

Red Deer, Alta. – This morning at approximately 10 a.m., a grey truck with two male occupants approached students on the playground at Holy Family School during morning recess.

The male passenger exited the vehicle and asked children if they wanted to get in the vehicle and if they had seen his Chihuahuas.

When the children refused, the passenger returned to the vehicle and the driver drove to the corner of Douglas Avenue and Dustin Street, did a U-turn and drove past the playground again.

RCMP are investigating this incident and are asking for the public’s assistance. The suspects are described as:


  • Approximately 50 years old
  • White beard
  • Glasses
  • Black jacket with blue and white shirt underneath


  • Approximately 50-60 years old
  • Balding
  • Wearing black pullover hoodie
