Safe & Healthy Communities

Suspension of Some Activities

On November 12, 2020, the provincial government introduced new public health measures for communities under enhanced relaunch status, which includes Red Deer.  From November 13 - 27, 2020 all group or aquatic fitness classes, group singing, dancing and performing activities, team sport activities, and group swimming lessons will be suspended. This means some Activity Reservations may be affected.

Activities and Programs

All activities must be pre-booked before your visit, and drop-in access is not available. Visit Look 'n Book to register in a program, or to sign up for an activity such as public swimming, lane swimming, fitness, and access to the gym or field house. See below for activity specific guidelines. If you need assistance with your Look 'n Book account, please call 403-309-8411.

RCMP/Police

Modified in-person services are available; however residents are asked to conduct business online or by telephone when possible.

Garbage, Recycling & Organics

Effective November 16, green carts will be collected every other week with blue carts instead of every week. This schedule will continue through early April, at which time green carts will return to weekly collection to accommodate yard waste generation. View the Cart Collection schedules here.

The Waste Management Facility (including the landfill, household hazardous waste, yard waste and electronics drop-off depots) and the Recycling Drop-off Depots remain open. There are no changes to hours of operation.

If you would like to drop off materials at the Waste Management Facility, we ask that you keep the following in mind:

  • Follow AHS guidelines and limit all trips to essential visits.
  • Do not visit if you are sick or self-isolating.
  • There are likely to be longer than usual wait times due to measures that are in place to protect staff and customers. Please be patient and respectful to staff and others.
  • Follow physical distancing guidelines and remain 2 metres away from others while on site.
  • As part of The City’s response to COVID-19, cash will not be an accepted form of payment at the Waste Management Facility. Accepted forms of payment include debit, personal credit card (for residential accounts only), cheque and, for commercial customers, pre-approved accounts.
