Building permit values drop in October

Building permit values were down in October, despite an increase in the total number of permits issued.

106 permits were issued in October with a combined value of just under $6.7 million, compared to 101 permits issued in October 2018, worth a combined $33.5 million. Year-to-date totals are nearly half the value as during the same period last year. January – October 2019 has seen $103.2 million in permits issued, compared to $199.2 million during the same period in 2018.

Notable permits for October include construction of a new divider wall and lighting at the Red Deer Catholic Regional Schools Montfort Centre, valued at $1.5 million and construction of a cold storage accessory building in the Queens Business Park, valued at $600,000.
