Yesterday, The City of Red Deer celebrated the outstanding achievements of local individuals, groups and teams at the annual Mayor’s Recognition Awards.
Each year, the awards program honours individuals and groups who have made meaningful and lasting contributions to our community.
“Red Deer is a city defined by its people, their generosity, resilience, and commitment to making our community better,” said Mayor Ken Johnston. “It’s truly an honour for Council and I to acknowledge these exceptional citizens who continue to give so much of themselves to bring honour and recognition to Red Deer.”
The evening’s highest honour, the Mayor’s Special Award, was presented to Renae Clark, Isabel Bolhuis and Elder Linda Ophus for their quiet strength, tireless commitment and deep love for the community.
In addition to the Mayor’s Special Award, 26 individuals, groups and teams were recognized across the following categories:
- Athletics
- Distinguished Voluntary Service
