Traffic pattern changes coming to 67 Street and 30 Avenue on Friday

July 7, 2016 2:00 PM
(Red Deer, Alberta)

On Friday, July 8 Carleton Avenue at 67 Street will re-open after closing in late April while crews connected Carleton Avenue to the 67 Street extension and roundabout.

Carrington Drive at 30 Avenue will close on Friday at 7 a.m. until late August / early September to allow crews to connect Carrington Drive to the 30 Avenue extension and roundabout. This is the last phase of work required before the roundabout fully opens later this construction season.

During this time, access to businesses in Clearview Market will be from Carleton Avenue for both vehicles and pedestrians. The traffic lights at Carleton Avenue and 67 Street will be operational again. Residential access into Clearview Ridge will be maintained at Crossley Street and Carrington Drive at 67 Street.

The 67 Street / 30 Avenue Expansion Project involves the extension of 30 Avenue north, 67 Street east, and the construction of a modern two-lane roundabout where they intersect, northeast of Clearview Market. The modern roundabout will accommodate future growth in northeast Red Deer, improve traffic flow, decrease congestion and improve traffic safety for all road users. Roundabout resources, including instructional videos on how to navigate the roundabout as a driver, pedestrian or cyclist is available at www.roundabout.how.
