Twenty-three individuals, the Red Deer College Queens Volleyball Team, the Dream Catchers Toastmasters Club and the “Walking With Our Sisters” Organizing Committee were recognized Thursday evening at the annual Mayor’s Recognition Awards presentation ceremony.

“Red Deer is a vibrant and active city with residents who are uniquely connected to where they live and to one another,” said Mayor Veer. “These awards recognize those: who are deeply invested in serving their fellow citizens, striving for excellence, demonstrating leadership and building our community. The recipients of the 2016 Mayor’s Recognition Awards have brought pride to our city, on a local, provincial and national level, through their ongoing and exemplary accomplishments. In their respective pursuits, they better themselves and, as a result, they better our community.”

“Red Deerians are appreciative of the contributions our dedicated citizens have made to advance the profile of the city we love and enrich the quality of life for all of us,” said Veer.

The Mayor’s Recognition Awards were established to recognize and celebrate individuals, teams and groups whose achievements and service have resulted in significant contributions to the community and have enhanced the image of Red Deer.

Recipients were recognized in the following categories:

  • Athletics
