Let’s Talk, Red Deer!

April 6, 2017 10:56 AM
(Red Deer, Alberta)

Come chat with us this Saturday, April 8, at Let’s Talk 2017. The City is hosting the annual event at Parkland Mall from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Chat with Mayor Veer and your Red Deer City Councillors as well as staff from over 30 City departments and community agencies to find out more about being strategic, being green, being safe, being active and belonging in our great city.

“We want to hear what matters most to Red Deerians,” said Mayor Tara Veer, who will be at Let’s Talk from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.  “It’s a great opportunity for citizens to ask questions and provide feedback about our community and its future.”

This year, there will be a Customer Service Centre where you can access City services from departments such as Recreation and Culture, Tax and Assessment, Inspections and Licensing, and Utilities. Register for recreation and culture programs and receive your family PIN in person, find out about utility usage, set-up pre-authorized withdrawals and e-billing, apply for licenses and permits, learn how to use MyCity, sign up for tax installment plans (TIP) and more!

“Based on a need in our community to assist citizens whose first language isn’t English, we will be offering interpretation services for Spanish, Ukrainian, Russian and Arabic at the Welcome booth from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.,” said Julia Harvie-Shemko, Director of Communications & Strategic Planning. “Let’s Talk is about bringing The City to you. We want to help you find all of the information you’re looking for.”

Stop by the Welcome booth or City Council booth to pick-up your information package and enter a draw for a chance to win a $100 or $50 gift certificate to Parkland Mall. Let the kids play mini-sticks while you pick out spring and summer programs, view local artwork and learn about Emergency Services through 911 demos. There are plenty of activities for the whole family.

A number of community agencies will also be set up at Let’s Talk including 211, Alberta Animal Services, Tourism Red Deer, the Red Deer Airport, the Red Deer Public Library, the Red Deer Museum and Art Gallery and the 2019 Canada Winter Games.
