City Council accepted a mediator’s recommended terms of settlement and ratified a new two-year collective agreement with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW), Local 254, at its April 15, 2019 meeting. The agreement is effective January 1, 2019 and runs until December 31, 2020.
The two parties met over seven days of bargaining and one day of mediation. The City of Red Deer will increase wage rates for their approximately 45 IBEW employees by 1 per cent in January 2019, and 2 per cent in January of 2020.
Negotiations proceeded well in an atmosphere of trust and mutual respect. Both parties to the agreement are satisfied that it meets current and future needs. The two-year agreement will assist in maintaining stability in the relationship into the future.
