Proposed amendments affecting the extension of Molly Banister Drive

December 10, 2019 9:41 AM
(Red Deer, Alberta)

The City has received an application to amend two development plans in the East Hill area. Melcor, the developer of the area, is requesting that the Municipal Development Plan (MDP) and the East Hill Major Area Structure Plan (MASP) be amended by removing the Molly Banister Drive protected roadway alignment (extension of Molly Banister Drive to 40 Avenue) from the plans.

Residents and business owners are being asked to provide their input on whether they support the removal of the protected alignment roadway for the potential future extension of Molly Banister Drive, or whether they don’t support the removal of the potential future roadway extension of Molly Banister Drive, and would like it to remain in the MDP and East Hill MASP. Residents and business owners in the surrounding areas will receive a letter directly, and all other residents and business owners are welcome to provide their input via an online survey.

The Q & A Backgrounder (pdf)  is intended to outline the history of the roadway, highlight some of the environmental and long-term future transportation implications of a decision, and aid residents and business owners in providing input on the suggested amendment.

Information collected from residents and business owners will be included in a report to Red Deer City Council. The amendment application will go to Council in the second quarter of 2020 for review.

Residents and business owners looking to provide their input can visit The survey will remain open until Monday, January 13, 2020.
