With temperatures rising and a change in season approaching, residents may be thinking about some of their favourite warm-weather amenities and activities. The City wishes to confirm which local events and amenities are suspended through June 30, 2020.
We continue to follow the direction of Alberta Health with the safety of Red Deerians in mind, and with the closure of Recreation, Parks and Culture Amenities, the following are also suspended for the same timeframe:
- River Bend Golf and Recreation Area, including the golf course and related amenities, and Discovery Canyon; walking trails remain open
- Recreation Centre Outdoor Pool
- Ross Street Patio
- Spray parks
- Lions Campground
And though they are privately-operated, the Red Deer Public Market and DBA Wednesday Farmers Market are also included in this list.
“We know this is disappointing news for many members of our community,” said Emergency Operations Director Karen Mann. “I want to reiterate that none of these decisions have been easy to make, and to remind our residents that each decision is truly made with their health and safety top of mind.”
