As noted previously, following direction from Alberta Health Services, all public events organized by The City or hosted at City facilities scheduled to take place prior to June 30 have been cancelled or postponed.
“There has been a lot of information coming at residents from different places regarding events in our city, and many changes over the past few week,” said Emergency Operations Director Karen Mann. “In the interest of public safety and in following directions of the Chief Medical Officer of Health, we have cancelled or postponed all City-led events until June 30, and have done the same with any Special Event Permits during that time.”
The City’s website has a full list of City-led events that have been cancelled or postponed, along with a list of City facility closures. Citizens are encouraged to check back often for the most up to date information.
In keeping with public health regulations, all Special Event Permits for public gatherings taking place prior to June 30, 2020 have been cancelled, and event organizers have been notified. While most organizers made the decision to cancel their event, some may choose to postpone to a future date. Citizens are encouraged to check with event organizers for more information about specific events.
“Our Inspections & Licensing team has connected with every event organizer over the past two weeks to let them know their permits had been cancelled,” said Mann. “Thankfully, everyone was understanding and accommodating, given our current situation.”
