Installation of the Ross Street Patio is happening next week and will be in place for the summer season. The patio typically opens May Long Weekend, but experienced delays due to the public health restrictions through the COVID-19 pandemic.
Picnic tables and umbrellas are provided by The City, and residents are also invited to bring their own chairs to enjoy the patio this summer. There are a reduced number of tables this year allowing visitors to adhere to all physical distancing guidelines. A maximum of 50 people will be permitted on the patio at once. Signage will be installed with physical distancing reminders, and people cannot attend the patio if they are feeling unwell.
In order to provide increased physical distance, the walkway has moved to the exterior of the patio. This will in turn allow the businesses within to expand their own outdoor patios.
The piano will not be installed this year.
The right lane on Ross Street from 49 Avenue to 50 Avenue will be closed on Tuesday, June 9 and Wednesday, June 10 to accommodate the installation of the patio.
