“The City of Red Deer is working with Alberta Health in response to local case numbers. At Monday’s City Council meeting, the City Manager will be providing an update to City Council on the number of COVID-19 cases in our city and the community impact of new Alberta Health restrictions announced today. Council will also be asked to set a Special Meeting for a further report.
The local ‘watch’ status, and the rising number of cases in our community and across the province, is a reminder that no region is immune to this virus, and we need to continue to be extremely diligent in ensuring we limit community spread.
This is a fluid situation that we are monitoring on a daily basis. The City’s Emergency Operations Centre has been and will remain in close contact with Alberta Health officials, and will assess the need for additional safety measures in our community depending on recommendations of the health authority, which may include, but not be limited to: enhancements to our existing face covering bylaw, tightening restrictions at City facilities or any other gathering restrictions mandated by Alberta Health.
It is imperative that we remain diligent and remember that every measure we take is not only to protect ourselves, but to protect all Red Deerians and capacity at our local hospital. I will continue to update our community on behalf of Council in the coming days.”
