Statement from the Mayor

Staying safe during Halloween this year

October 30, 2020 3:52 PM
(Red Deer, Alberta)

As we find new ways to participate in Halloween, City Council wishes everyone a safe and fun weekend and encourage us all to do our part to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Our city has generally had low case numbers, and I am proud of Red Deerian’s continued commitment to upholding provincial public health guidelines. This commitment has served us well in minimizing spread and keeping each other safe through the many difficult months we have faced together. As active cases fluctuate in our community, Council and administration are closely monitoring the situation and are continually responding to public health guidelines to determine what additional steps may need to be taken.

Despite the pandemic, it is important that we find ways to connect with each other, but we must continue to do so safely. We know Halloween will look different this year, and Alberta Health has helpful guidelines on their website to help you plan for a successful and safe Halloween, which can be found here: https://www.alberta.ca/halloween-during-covid19.aspx.

I encourage citizens to acknowledge and respect we are all responding to the pandemic differently, and in the best ways we know how. May we all continue to be kind to each other, regardless of differing opinions and perspectives, as we all work together to do what is necessary to ensure the safety of our community and our loved ones during this unprecedented time.

Have a safe and fun weekend.
