Red Deer’s utility customers will see a shift toward more consistent billing as utility bill schedules move to fixed monthly schedules.
Beginning in November 2020, utility bills will move to fixed monthly schedules and customers can expect their bill to be due on either the first or fifteenth of the month, depending on their location in the city.
“We’ve heard from residents that more consistent bills would make it easier to plan and get their bills paid on time,” said Shelley Gingrich, Corporate Controller. “With fixed monthly bill dates, residents will know exactly when to expect their bill, and total costs will be more consistent.”
A small portion of customers may notice prorated bills in October during the shift to the new schedule. While most customers will not notice a change, some may see either a larger or smaller bill during October as billing schedules are adjusted to the new billing dates.
“As we shift the schedule, some residents may see smaller or larger bills than normal in October, but the overall utility costs will remain the same,” said Gingrich. “Fixed costs are pro-rated based on the number of days in the billing cycle, so residents will only be charged for days within that billing cycle, whether it is longer or shorter than normal.”
Residents with questions or concerns about their utility bills are encouraged to reach out to the City’s Utilities help centre at 403-342-8203 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
