Red Deer RCMP investigate armed robbery at Scotty’s Esso

Red Deer, Alberta – Red Deer RCMP are looking for public assistance to identify the man who robbed the Scotty’s Esso at knifepoint on June 16 after assaulting and threatening a staff member.

RCMP were called to the Esso Station on Reichley Street at 10:45 pm after a man entered the store brandishing a knife at a staff member and threatening to stab her. The suspect went behind the counter and shook the staff member before departing with an undisclosed amount of money, scratch tickets, cigarettes, and a staff member’s purse. He placed all items in a large black garbage bag he was carrying and fled. The staff member was not injured.

Police Dog Services tracked the suspect into the Rosedale neighbourhood. RCMP continue to investigate.

RCMP are looking for a suspect who is described as:

  • Caucasian male
  • approximately 6’ tall
  • slim build
  • wearing a black and white face mask, a grey hoodie pulled down over his head, grey pants and black dress shoes
  • carrying a 5-6” fixed blade knife and a large black garbage bag
