Ecological Profiles
Ecological profiles identify and recommend priority preservation zones prior to each new proposed subdivision. These profiles will play an important role in assuring natural features are incorporated in new development areas as annexation occurs and the city continues to grow.
The incorporation and preservation of natural features in new neighbourhoods provides for balance of built and natural features in the final design. The environmental impact of retaining natural features includes increased awareness and aesthetic appeal for residents, greater biodiversity and increased air and water quality.
Ecological profiles allow for:
- The identification and inventory of important natural features prior to development
- Detailed preservation information and recommendations for developers in preparing the design of neighbourhood area structure plans
