Seasonal Patio Program

Expand your food and beverage businesses onto a sidewalk patio during the summer months.
Fratters outdoor patio

There are two types of seasonal patios in Red Deer:

Downtown Businesses

Downtown businesses separate from Ross Street Patio

These patios require boardwalks to be installed around the perimeter of the patio to provide a safe, accessible walkway for pedestrians. The City will build, install, remove and store necessary boardwalks at no cost to participating businesses.

A solid barrier around these patios is no longer required, due to relaxed regulations by AGLC. Patios must be suitably defined using rope, planters, railing or similar barrier.

Businesses that operate a patio must ensure that Public Health Orders and restrictions are adhered to and that patrons are able to maintain safe physical distance from others to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.
