Use of Streets Permit
Parking Stall Reservation
Parking Stalls can be reserved to accommodate the need to hold specific parking stall(s). Stalls can be reserved for a variety of reasons including but not limited to; equipment/vehicle storage for building upgrades or loading/unloading that is not accommodated by existing loading zones. Applicants will need to specify what the stall will be used for when reserving. Fees are calculated based on location zone per day. Please see table below for parking stall zone rates.

Street/Lane/Sidewalk Closure
Option 1:
Applicants can request a closure by submitting a Traffic Accommodation Strategy (TAS) to Engineering Services for review/approval 2-3 business days prior to the closure. This plan should include location/direction of closure and location of signage/flag persons, and site contact name and cell number. If approved, a road closure notification will be sent to Parks & Public Works to communicate this closure to the public and a Use of Streets Permit will be issued to the Applicant.
Option 2:
Applicants can request Traffic Control through parksandpublicworks@reddeer.ca. This option also requires 2-3 business days notice prior to the closure to confirm crew availability. If approved, the Applicant will need to complete a work order confirming the details of their request. From the completed work order, Engineering Services will issue a Use of Streets Permit to the Applicant. Please note that Parks and Public Works charge additional fees for their Traffic Control separate from the Use of Streets Permit.

Lot Parking Stall Reservation
City owned Lot Parking Stall(s) can be reserved for a fee of $10.00 per day per stall. For locations of City of Red Deer Lot Parking see Parking Zone map above.
Property Owner Requests
Property owners require a Use of Streets Permit if placing a SeaCan or Disposal Bin on the street in front of their address for moving or renovations. The location of the bin must be in front of your own property only and not blocking a fire hydrant. Signed permit must be kept visible in the front window of residence for the duration of the permit. During street sweeping you do not need to move the container as long is your permit is visible and once the container is moved you must sweep the area that was blocked by the bin. During winter months the bin must be removed 12 hours before snow clearing. The snow clearing schedule is posted on reddeer.ca. The fee for a bin is calculated by lineal meters as follows and is only available as a monthly permit:

Windrow Removal Permit
(Formerly known as a Seasonal Use of Streets Permit)
To remove snow from city streets, you must obtain a Windrow Removal Permit. Once obtained, you can be hired by residents to clear windrows from the street. Snow removed from streets can’t be placed back on the street, a nearby median, or on other City property (e.g., parks). It must be placed on appropriate private property or taken to one of The City’s snow storage sites (standard fees will apply).

Contractors can apply for a Windrow Removal Permit and/or register to access The City's snow storage sites. A Windrow Removal Permit will allow you to remove snow from City property, including windrows on Grey Routes.
What you need to know before applying for a Windrow Removal Permit:
- Applicants must have a valid City of Red Deer Business License
- The permit application fee is $51.90
