The annual Canada Day celebrations at Bower Ponds are organized by Red Deer Cultural Heritage Society. For more details about the events planned for July 1st, please see the Red Deer Cultural Heritage Society's Facebook page.

Fireworks

11 p.m.

Road Closures

Please note that access to Bower Ponds is extremely limited throughout the day due to the celebrations. As such, Park and Ride is recommended for event-goers. The following road closures will be in effect:

  • Kerry Wood Drive from Taylor Dr to Orr Dr
  • 47 St / 45 St (Capstone Loop) from 54 Ave to 45 St

Bus and Park & Ride Information

Park & Ride Service is available every 30 minutes from Sorensen Station to Bower Ponds.

  • First departure from Sorensen Station is at 10:45 a.m. Departures will continue until 10:15 p.m. when the fireworks begin. Shuttles back to Sorensen Station will be available after the fireworks.

Parking: There will be no parking at Bower Ponds, Great Chief Park, Capstone or surrounding area, so take advantage of the convenient Park & Ride at Sorensen Station downtown (4830 48 St, Red Deer). Parking is free downtown in Sorensen Station, City lots and on-street. Please note that vehicles must be removed from Sorensen Station by 1 a.m. on July 2.

Bus fares: Fares are cash only please:

  • Adult (18 & over) - $1.00 each way
  • Senior (65 & over) - $0.50 each way
  • Youth (6– 17) - $0.50 each way
  • Children (5 & under) - Free

MyRide cards, Day passes, and Transfers not accepted.

RCMP Customer Service

The Downtown RCMP Detachment Front Counter and admin line's holiday hours are as follows:

  • Wednesday, July 1 - CLOSED

When the Red Deer RCMP Main Detachment, located at 4602 51 Avenue, is closed for in-person front counter service, incidents can still be reported through 9-1-1, the Police Non-Emergency Line at 403-406-2200, and The City of Red Deer Bylaw Complaint Line at 403-406-8766. The North Detachment remains closed to the public at all times.
