The City of Red Deer, Red Deer River Naturalists and Kerry Wood Nature Centre have teamed up to develop Adopt-A-Stream, a program that allows individuals, families and groups of all kinds to play a vital role in protecting our waterways and the wildlife that depend on them.

An Adopt a Steam guide is free to pick up at the Kerry Wood Nature Centre, the Museum and Art Gallery (MAG) and other City-owned facilities. This unique information package is designed to encourage exploration of our creeks and river.

The commitment can be an involved or simple as volunteers choose and involves picking up litter, or reporting vandalism, invasive plants or animals and general stream condition.

Similar to Green Deer’s Adopt-A-Park and The City’s Adopt-A-Storm Drain programs, Adopt-A-Stream offers an opportunity for Red Deer residents to get involved in protecting the natural places and spaces in and around Red Deer.
