The City of Red Deer is inviting residents to apply for Council committees, boards and commissions.
Applications open today and will be accepted until September 18, 2026.
Council committees, boards and commissions play an important advisory role by bringing community insight, experience and perspective into local decision-making. This year, The City is recruiting for 33 vacancies across several committees, boards and commissions, including the new Greater Downtown Governance committee.
“Council committees are one way residents can contribute directly to the community and help inform decisions that shape Red Deer,” said Catherine Jackson, Acting City Clerk. “We encourage people with different backgrounds, experiences and interests to review the opportunities available and consider applying.”
Opportunities are available on the following committees, boards and commissions:
- Audit Committee
- Greater Downtown Governance
- Housing and Homelessness Integration Committee
- Intermunicipal Subdivision and Development Appeal Board
- Municipal Planning Commission
- Policing Committee
- Public Art Commission
- River Bend Golf and Recreation Society Board
- Red Deer & District FCSS
- Red Deer Library Board
- Red Deer Tribunals
Each committee has its own focus, requirements, term length and meeting schedule. Some committees require specific experience or representation, while others may be a fit for applicants who want to give back, share their perspective and contribute to the community.
Applicants are encouraged to review committee descriptions and apply for the opportunity that best matches their interests, experience and availability. Each committee with vacancies has its own online application form.
Applications close September 18, 2026. Successful nominees are expected to be selected and announced at the October 27, 2026 Organizational Meeting, with terms beginning after the meeting.
