Building permit values decline in December, but year-to-date totals remain high

Building permit values in Red Deer totalled $1.7 million in December 2025, a decrease from $1.9 million in December 2024. While monthly activity was slower, year-to-date permit values remain strong.

From January through December 2025, The City issued 1,040 building permits valued at $1.06 billion, compared to 1,138 permits worth $130.6 million during the same period in 2024.

Notable permits include:

  • Building permit for rebuild of four out of eight multi family attached dwellings at 4250 54 Avenue, including mechanical, electrical, plumbing and architectural scopes of work. Structural repairs part of another permit and are out of scope. Permit valued at $317,000.
  • Building permit for construction of new single family detached dwelling with front attached garage, basement development and covered rear deck at 78 Turnbull Close, valued at $296,000
  • Building permit for interior renovations at 18-6320 50 Avenue, valued at $200,000
  • Building permit for construction of new multi family attached townhouse dwelling with rear deck at 44 Lavelle Close, valued at $168,000
  • Building permit for construction of new multi family attached townhouse dwelling with rear deck at 42 Lavelle Close, valued at $168,000
