At the Council meeting today, administration will present recommendations to extend the ability for the interim shelter to operate at Cannery Row.
On March 29, Council approved amendments to the Land Use Bylaw and approved a development permit for a two-month extension until May 31; administration will recommend an additional year to operate the interim shelter at that location.
The recommendations being considered stems from the recent decisions and discussions surrounding the interim shelter’s current location and potential future site. On April 7, Council directed administration to compile a list of potential sites throughout the community to bring back for consideration within four weeks. Administration has been working closely with the service providers and the Provincial government to compile the list and work out the necessary steps to make the move a reality.
