Once again, non-profit groups are invited to apply for funding through The City of Red Deer’s Community Recreation Enhancement Grant. The program provides funding to enhance the delivery of community recreation programs, services and events in Red Deer.

New for the fall 2021, intake of the Community Recreation Enhancement Grant, all applications will be submitted via online portal. The submission system is quick to set up and easy to use.

Applications are accepted two times per year. Completed applications must be submitted prior to the deadlines of 12:00 p.m. on April 1 or October 1 of the funding year.

In 2020, the City of Red Deer awarded approximately $100,000 to community sport and recreation groups, in order to support and enhance their ability to deliver recreation services and programs to Red Deerians. The Covid-19 pandemic continues to have a significant impact on the recreation sector. The City of Red Deer worked with the awarded organizations on grant and reporting requirements in order to allow them room to adapt their project planning and service delivery in light of the pandemic. A complete listing of 2020 grant recipients is available here.

Barb McKee, Recreation Superintendent says, “we encourage community groups to access the second application intake, of October 1, in order to help them carry out their goals of providing recreation opportunities to the community.” She continues, “these funds may be more valuable than ever as our community organizations navigate in the wake of COVID-19, and we are proud to offer this resources to our community groups.”
