The City is welcoming members of the media, public, and City staff back in person for City Council and Council Committee meetings.
Effective immediately, public, media and staff can attend City Council and Council Committee meetings in person for the first time in over two years. Council meetings first shifted to a virtual setting at the start of the pandemic, and while Council has since returned to meet in person, public viewing has remained virtual until now.
“We are excited to welcome staff, public and members of the media to attend Council meetings in person once again,” said Lisa Perkins, Corporate & Employee Services General Manager. “This is a wonderful opportunity for people to re-engage in City matters and a welcome sign that we are continuing to work our way back to more regular pre-pandemic operations.”
City Council meetings will continue to be live-streamed for those who wish to tune in online.
“Meetings will continue to be live streamed, and we will continue to offer virtual options for people to participate in public hearings,” said Perkins. “This increases the options available for our citizens to participate in the democratic process, and of course, we ask anyone who is feeling unwell to use these virtual options.”
Council Committee meetings will only be accessible in person until technology upgrades can be completed in Committee meeting spaces.
The next regular City Council meeting is scheduled for Monday, July 18. Meeting dates, agendas and live-stream videos are available online at https://meeting.reddeer.ca.
