A list of five criteria to be considered in the development of a site evaluation matrix were outlined at today’s Special Council Meeting:
- Ability to acquire site
- Adequate size
- Holistic community impact
- Impacts to surrounding area
- Access to services & supports
The five criteria developed today may be brought forward into the permanent shelter site criteria evaluation matrix. Council indicated these criteria were based on public input and community feedback as well as technical information about the shelter project.
During today’s meeting, the process of getting to the criteria list started with a reflection on the previously used site criteria as a mechanism for future-focused thinking in building out the final site criteria. City Council then moved into conversations about potential options for future site criteria that would be used in building out an evaluation matrix.
No formal decisions were made during the Special Council Meeting relating to the permanent shelter site criteria today.
Council will meet again on Monday to continue conversations about the permanent shelter site criteria evaluation matrix and to dig deeper into each of the criterion discussed today. The meeting on Monday, June 27 will start at 2:30 and will be live streamed through Council’s meeting site.
