(Red Deer, Alberta)The following decisions were made at today’s City Council meeting:
Red Deer Recovery Summit
- Council has approved the receipt of a $50,000 provincial grant to host a Recovery Summit in Red Deer in October 2023. Conference details will be released soon, registration is anticipated to open mid to late August.
Sponsorship Policy Update
- Council approved the updated Sponsorship Policy with a couple minor updates. The policy will be available online on our Council Policies page later this week.
Diversity & Inclusion Plan
- Council supported Red Deer’s Community Informed Diversity & Inclusion Plan. An implementation plan will be developed over the coming months that will define roles and actionable items based on the priorities outlined in the Diversity & Inclusion Plan. Read more about the plan here - .
Code of Conduct
- A Code of Conduct complaint was received by City Council in June 2023, resulting in an internal investigation. The investigation concluded that Councillor Cindy Jefferies breached Section 7.1 of City Council’s Code of Conduct Bylaw. All other alleged breaches set out in the complaint were determined to be unfounded. More information here - .
Land Use Bylaw site exception
Following a public hearing today, City Council passed second and third reading for a land use bylaw amendment for a site exception at 6970 Taylor Drive.
