HotSpot has launched as Red Deer’s new downtown parking system.
Parking meters and older pay stations are no longer in service, and customers will use a free mobile app, a fast tap sign featuring a quick scan code, or a pay station to pay for parking sessions in on-street stalls and City owned lots. Payment is required on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with free parking available evenings, weekends and on statutory holidays.
New pay stations are expected to be up and running by early October and offer multiple payment options, including coins, Visa, MasterCard, Apple Pay, Google Pay and Interac tap. A map of pay station locations is available in the HotSpot app and on The City’s website, www.reddeer.ca/parkingproject.
“We’re so excited to launch HotSpot in Red Deer. We have been working towards an improved downtown parking system for a long time and are pleased to share it with the community,” said Amy Fengstad, Acting Manager of Inspections & Licensing. “The HotSpot parking system provides many convenient features for customers that make it easier than ever to manage daily parking sessions and monthly permits. For customers who prefer not to use an app, the new pay stations provide multiple payment options, including coins.”
The City of Red Deer thanks the Government of Alberta for supporting this project through Municipal Sustainability Initiative (MSI) funding.
