Upcoming Road Closure on Barrett Drive

Motorists are advised of upcoming traffic disruptions as crews work to replace catch basins, repair concrete sidewalks and curbs, and rehabilitate pavement between Bannerman Close and Bower Mall East Entrance. Work will be completed in the following stages, starting on August 12, 2024 to September 30, 2024. Please note, all timelines are weather dependent and subject to change.

Stage 1: Catch Basin and Lead Replacement

  • Catch basin and lead replacement will occur at the Barrett Drive and Bennett Street intersection from 7 a.m.. August 12 to 7 p.m., August 13.
  • Work at the Barrett Drive and Boyce Street intersection will occur from 7 a.m. on August 14 to 7 p.m. on August 15. Detours will be in place during these closures.

Stage 2: Concrete Replacement

Concrete replacement work will take place along Barrett Drive for approximately four weeks, weather permitting. Traffic will be intermittently disrupted with flag person control in place as needed.

Stage 3: Pavement Rehabilitation – Base Preparation

Road base preparation will occur along Barrett Drive between Bannerman Close and the Bower Mall East Entrance, one segment at a time. Traffic detours will be in place with signage provided. Each segment is expected to take one week, weather permitting:

  1. Bannerman Close to Bell Street: intersections at Bannerman Close and Bell Street will remain open,
  2. Bell Street to Bennett Street: Bell Street intersection will be closed; Bennett Street intersection will remain open,
  3. Bennett Street to Bower Mall: Benett Street intersection will be closed; Bower Mall East Entrance will remain open.

Stage 4: Pavement Rehabilitation – Paving

Paving will take place following road base work for approximately one week, weather permitting. Traffic will be intermittently disrupted with flag person control in place as needed.

Stage 5: Miscellaneous Work

Miscellaneous work will take place along Barrett Drive for approximately two weeks, including landscape restoration, line marking, and street cleaning. Traffic will be intermittently disrupted with flag person control in place as needed.

Motorists are advised to obey all signs and find an alternate route if possible. Please slow down when approaching or driving in a construction zone. Your patience and cooperation are greatly appreciated.
