Despite the recent snow, the annual street sweeping program is moving full-steam ahead. Downtown and residential street sweeping will begin on May 5, as crews finish up sweeping medians and boulevards throughout the city this week.
Parks and Public Works will also be out sweeping sidewalks and trails throughout the city. Pedestrians and motorists are asked to be cautious around street and sidewalk sweeping equipment by staying at least three car lengths away to avoid injury or damage from flying debris.
Residents can help the street sweeping process run smoothly by moving their cars off the roads before we come in. No Parking signs will be placed a minimum of 12 hours ahead of operations.
“In order for sweepers to get all debris off the street, we need residents to move their vehicles to off-street parking. Vehicles parked on the street will be ticketed and unfortunately the end result will be negatively impacted,” said Greg Sikora, Parks and Public Works Manager.
Residents are encouraged to sign up for Notify Red Deer to receive a notification reminder when street sweepers will be in their area.
