Beginning September 9, the downtown Red Deer RCMP detachment will be under construction. While the customer service area will remain open throughout construction, visitors may experience longer than normal wait times at the front counter. Additionally, there may be reduced parking availability and extra noise at the detachment.
To alleviate wait times, Red Deerians are reminded of a number of common detachment services that can be completed online or by phone.
The following crimes can be reported online, as long as the incident isn’t presently happening, there are no suspects, and wasn’t captured by surveillance or witnessed by an individual:
- Damage/mischief to property under $5,000
- Theft of bicycle under $5,000
- Theft under $5,000
- Theft from vehicle under $5,000
- Lost property under $5,000
- Please note, if lost or stolen items involve personal identification, firearms, license plates, or medication, you should not report online. However, you can call the non-emergency line at 403-406-2200.
In addition to the list above, the non-emergency line (403-406-2200) can be used to report:
- Suspicious vehicles or people,
- Noise complaints
- Fraud
- Failure to remain at a collision with a suspect
- Theft involving personal identification, firearms, license plates or medication
Another common service that can be completed online is record checks. Unless a fingerprint-based criminal record check is required, most criminal record and vulnerable sector check applications can be submitted and paid online. Visit reddeer.ca/checks for more information and to start the application process. To book a civil fingerprint appointment, please call the front counter at 403-406-2309.
In person reporting is required for vehicle collisions involving an injury, even a minor one, or if there appears to be $5,000 or more in damage. If unsure whether the damage is $5,000 or more, you may get an estimate before reporting.
The Red Deer RCMP’s customer service hours of operation are Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and is closed weekends and holidays. For more information about the Red Deer RCMP, please visit reddeer.ca/RCMP.
