Red Deer, Alta. – Around 10 a.m. on March 15, 2022, members of Red Deer RCMP’s Crime Reduction Unit were conducting proactive patrols of strategic crime locations in the city’s north end when a member observed a suspicious vehicle idling outside an apartment building in the Pines neighbourhood.
The member ran the licence plate and discovered it had been reported stolen five days earlier in Lacombe, Alta. The member observed the vehicle and its three occupants as it travelled through the city and into the county. During the surveillance, the vehicle’s licence plate was changed to another plate. This plate’s registration also did not match the vehicle.
At approximately 11:30 a.m., the vehicle stopped at a north end scrap metal business and the three occupants exited. At this time, the RCMP members arrested the suspects. The two passengers were not charged.
The driver, Tiana Crandon, 31, of Red Deer County has been charged with:
- Possession of stolen property under $5,000 (x2)
- Possession of identity documents (x2)
- Failure to comply with undertaking
Crandon was released after posting bail, and is set to appear at Red Deer Provincial Court on Apr. 5, 2022.
