Red Deer, Alta. - On Feb. 4, 2025, Red Deer RCMP General Investigation Section (GIS) arrested one male as a result of a drug trafficking investigation. Officers executed a search warrant at a residence in the Vanier area of Red Deer. As a result of the investigation, police seized 730 grams of cocaine, over 400 oxycodone tablets, items used for the production of crack cocaine, other items and materials used in the trafficking of controlled substances and over $4,500 in Canadian currency.
Germayne Byron, a 19-year-old resident of Ontario, has been charged with the following:
- Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking x2
- Possess Proceeds of Crime under $5000
- Possess items used to Traffic in Controlled Substances
- Obstruction of a Peace Officer
Byron was brought before a Justice of the Peace and was released on a Release Order with conditions. Byron is scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 27, 2025, at the Alberta Court of Justice in Red Deer.
“Drug trafficking is a serious concern within our communities. In many cases, drug users often fund their drug habits through committing other crime” said Cst. Andrew Devine of Red Deer RCMP GIS. “Red Deer RCMP remain committed to addressing drug trafficking activities and the subsequent crime it causes.”
