Red Deer, Alta – Between Dec. 15 and 16, 2024, Red Deer RCMP responded to bomb threats at 3 schools throughout Red Deer.
School administration from St. Joseph’s High School, St. Francis of Assisi Middle School and Pines Alternative School receive emails that contained threats to the schools. A thorough investigation was conducted by officers who attended and searched the buildings and surrounding areas, as a result, police have confirmed that these emails were an unsubstantiated threat and there is no credible threat to the safety of students, staff, or the wider community.
While the threats have been deemed unsubstantiated, the RCMP takes all reports of this nature seriously. Our top priority is the safety and security of our schools. We understand that situations like this can cause concern but we are committed to investigating any potential threat to ensure the well-being of our community. Red Deer RCMP are continuing the investigation into the source of the threat, with preliminary information suggesting that the emails originated outside of Canada.
