Red Deer, Alta. – Red Deer RCMP arrested two people and seized a firearm, in relation to a stolen vehicle investigation.
On Feb. 20, 2026, at approximately 6:45 a.m., Red Deer RCMP received a report of a stolen pick-up truck from the Inglewood area of Red Deer.
At approximately 11:30 a.m., the truck was involved in a collision with a van, on 47 Avenue and Molly Bannister Drive in Red Deer, Alta.. Red Deer RCMP Crime Reduction Team (CRT) was in the area and promptly located the stolen truck.
Officers were able to identify the driver and passenger of the truck, who are both well known to police. The two male occupants of the stolen truck fled on foot from the collision and were arrested by police after a short foot pursuit.
The occupants of the van were uninjured.
As a result of the police investigation, a total of 30 charges have been laid.
The driver was identified as 30-year-old Daniel Buehler of Red Deer. Buehler has been charged with a total of 18 charges, including:
- Motor vehicle theft
- Possession of device for purpose of committing theft
- Disguise with intent
- Possession of prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition
- Unauthorized possession in motor vehicle
- Firearm or weapon: possession contrary to prohibition order (X 3)
- Dangerous operation of motor vehicle
The passenger was identified as 32-year-old Kenton Wood of Red Deer. Wood has been charged with a total of 12 charges including:
- Unlawfully possess controlled substance
- Motor vehicle theft
- Possession of device for purpose of committing theft
- Possession of break-in instruments
- Possession of prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition
- Unauthorized possession in motor vehicle
Following two Judicial Interim Release (JIR) hearings, both Buehler and Wood were remanded into custody to appear before the Alberta Court of Justice in Red Deer on Feb. 26, 2026.
