These results are now final.
The recount took place between 12 p.m. and approximately 8 p.m. on October 25, 2025, in accordance with the Local Authorities Election Act. Candidates were present throughout the process to observe. The confirmed results were shared directly with the two affected candidates and will be posted to elections.reddeer.ca.
“Recounts are a normal part of any election, especially when results are this close,” said Jessica Robinson, Returning Officer.
This year, as mandated by the Province of Alberta, The City of Red Deer used a hand-counting process supported by manual data entry. This process includes multiple checks, reviews, and verification steps to ensure results are accurate and thoroughly validated.
The City did not receive any other applications for preliminary recounts. Under the Local Authorities Election Act, applications must be submitted within 72 hours of the official declaration of results.
Robinson extended her appreciation to candidates and residents for their patience and professionalism throughout the recount process.
