Red Deer Lights the Nights returns with another season of festive fun

Red Deer Lights the Nights returns next week, with more than a month of festive fun for the whole family.

Free or low-cost, family-friendly activities are happening downtown and throughout the community, including:

  • Writes of Winter writing contest running November 12 to December 1
  • Frost Street Patio Party on Friday, November 21 from 4 to 7 p.m.
  • Rare & Remarkable Artisan Market on Saturday, November 22 from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
  • Holiday Craft Fair on Saturday & Sunday, November 22 & 23 at the Kerry Wood Nature Centre
  • Laft Hus Annual Craft and Bake Sale on Saturday & Sunday November 22 & 23 at Norwegian Laft Hus Society
  • Pottery Club annual Christmas Sale on Saturday, November 22 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Recreation Centre
  • Christmas Craft Fair at Red Deer’s Northside Community Centre YMCA on Saturday, November 22 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Family Fun Night on Friday, November 28 at the Red Deer Museum & Art Gallery from 5 to 8 p.m.
  • Family Snowshoeing at the Kerry Wood Nature Centre on Saturday, November 29 and Saturday and Sunday, December 27 and 28 from 12 to 3 p.m.
  • North Pole Gallery Stroll at various art galleries on Friday, December 5 from 5 to 8 p.m.
  • TLC: Toques, Lanterns and Cookies! On Saturday, December 6 from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Red Deer Arts Council
  • Santa Stroll at City Hall Park on Saturday, December 6 from 5:15pm to 6:15pm
  • Winter Wonderland Storytime at the Dawe branch of the Red Deer Public Library on Thursday, December 11 from 10 to 11 a.m.
  • Sugarplum Storytime at the Downtown Red Deer Public Library on Monday, December 15 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.
  • Christmas Concert in the Club Café at the Red Deer Museum & Art Gallery on Wednesday, December 17, from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
  • Indigenous Winter Solstice Storytime at the Downtown Public Library on Saturday, December 20 from 12 to 2 p.m.
  • Happy Noon Year Dance Party! At the Downtown Red Deer Public Library on Wednesday, December 31 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Residents are invited to visit City Hall Park any time after November 21 to enjoy a beautiful display of colourful lights and festive decorations. Lights are turned on every day from sunset to sunrise until mid-January.
