The City of Red Deer is inviting residents to get involved and make a meaningful difference in their community by applying to serve on a Council Committee or the Central Alberta Regional Assessment Review Board (RARB).
“Serving on a committee or board is a powerful way to share your voice, build leadership skills, and help shape decisions that impact daily life in our city and region,” said Catherine Jackson, Deputy Clerk. “We encourage anyone with the time, expertise, or passion for public service to consider applying.”
Council Committees
Council Committees provide advice and recommendations to City Council on important issues, services and policies affecting Red Deer. Committees are seeking:
- Individuals who want to give back to their community
- Residents with lived experience or professional expertise relevant to a committee’s focus
- People who can commit time to attend meetings and prepare in advance
Committee involvement is a volunteer opportunity with terms ranging from 1-3 years and meetings typically held monthly or bi-monthly in the evenings.
Central Alberta Regional Assessment Review Board (RARB)
The RARB is recruiting new Board Members to hear property assessment complaints and make fair, impartial decisions for property owners across central Alberta partner municipalities.
Key highlights include:
- Paid remuneration for hearings and mandatory training
- No formal training required to apply; mandatory training is provided by the Province of Alberta
- Flexible daytime availability required, with hearings scheduled Monday-Friday in half or full day increments
- Term length: 3 years, beginning in January 2026
